Legal Counsel – Trade Finance Specialist

About the role

This position provides senior legal support for trade finance activities, ensuring that financing transactions are properly documented, negotiated, and executed. The role works closely with internal teams and external counsel to protect the bank’s interests while delivering high‑quality legal services.

Key responsibilities

• Review and coordinate loan documentation, including facility agreements, pledges, assignments and guarantees.
• Negotiate and finalise financing contracts with clients and law firms, such as loan, security and inter‑creditor agreements.
• Coordinate with external counsel on security enforcement, restructurings and default situations.
• Interact with notaries, external lawyers and counterparties to execute transactions.
• Manage corporate matters like signing authorities, board resolutions and corporate housekeeping.
• Provide operational legal support for all contractual matters related to financings.
• Review and improve internal legal processes, including contract management and approval workflows.
• Contribute to the standardisation of contractual documentation.
• Collaborate with relationship managers, operations, risk, compliance and back‑office teams.

Required profile

• Swiss law degree.
• 5–10 years of experience in trade finance, preferably within a bank.
• Proven ability to handle a high volume of documentation accurately and efficiently.
• Excellent command of legal English.
• Strong autonomy, attention to detail and a practical mindset.
