Machine Learning Scientist III

About the role

Expedia Group’s Advertising Machine Learning team is looking for a Machine Learning Scientist III to design, develop, and apply advanced ML, statistical, and optimization models that power the ad auction and personalization systems. You will work closely with product, engineering, and business stakeholders to deliver production‑ready solutions that improve traveller and partner outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement predictive models for click‑through rate, booking propensity, and advertiser bidding dynamics.
• Translate ambiguous business questions into measurable scientific problems, define success metrics, and drive data‑driven recommendations.
• Partner with engineers and product managers to productionize models, integrate them into large‑scale distributed systems, and monitor their performance.
• Develop and evaluate scalable approaches across feature engineering, experimentation design (A/B testing), and data modelling.

Required profile

• Advanced degree (MS or PhD) in Machine Learning, Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Economics, or related field.
• 5+ years of industry experience delivering end‑to‑end machine learning solutions in production environments.
• Strong problem‑solving skills, ability to communicate complex technical concepts, and experience collaborating cross‑functionally.

Required skills

• Python programming and its ML/data ecosystem (e.g., PySpark, pandas).
• Experience with deep learning frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch.
• Proficiency in SQL for large‑scale data analysis.
