Mechanical Engineer – Injection Molding (MedTech)

About the role

We are seeking a senior Mechanical Engineer specialized in injection molding to join our MedTech client in Zurich. You will lead the mechanical development of high‑volume consumable products, ensuring manufacturability and compliance with medical standards.

Key responsibilities

• Own deliverables within a matrix‑organized project structure and coordinate with external partners and suppliers.
• Lead all phases of mechanical development—from concept and design reviews to unit testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance—with a strong focus on Design for Manufacturability (DFM).
• Drive architectural and detailed design of complex functional consumables optimized for high‑volume injection molding and advanced plastic technologies.
• Participate in sprint‑based Agile planning, estimation, and execution, collaborating with Product Owners, Scrum Masters, Architects, and Developers.
• Perform engineering analyses such as Finite Element Analysis (FEA), Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), tolerance analysis, and physics‑based simulations.
• Provide technical mentorship to junior engineers and lead cross‑functional technical reviews.

Required profile

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering (FH/BSc/MSc) with at least 10 years of hands‑on industry experience.
• Extensive expertise in injection molding design and plastic technologies, preferably for high‑volume, cost‑optimized production.
• Proven track record in Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and full‑cycle mechanical development.
• Experience working in multidisciplinary teams and managing external partners and suppliers.
• Professional proficiency in English; German reading/listening skills are a plus.
