Mechanical Lead

About the role

Mercury, the European leader in construction solutions, is seeking a Mechanical Lead for its Zurich office. The role involves managing site safety, quality assurance, schedule, costs and day‑to‑day operations for complex engineering and construction projects.

Key responsibilities

• Manage site safety and safety file in collaboration with the project team and Mercury Safety Advisor.
• Oversee mechanical package QA, including set‑up, management and close‑out of the QA file.
• Coordinate project schedule with Mercury project team, consulting engineer and client requirements.
• Control all project costs – labour, material, plant, equipment, variations and valuations.
• Supervise daily site operations and sub‑contractor activities, tracking progress against schedule and manpower.
• Conduct weekly meetings with sub‑contractors, manage snagging system and issue labour hours for central tracking.
• Attend site, internal project, engineering, planning, coordination and hand‑over meetings.
• Prepare and upload weekly progress reports, highlight risks, delays and cost variations.
• Ensure sub‑contractor documentation, especially safety records, is up‑to‑date and filed.
• Issue weekly safety statistics and labour projections, and hold commercial meetings to capture variations.

Required profile

• Trade background with a third‑level qualification.
• Minimum 5 years experience as a Mechanical Engineer on construction projects.
• Proven record of coordinating large‑scale projects.
• Willingness to travel within Ireland if required.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work under pressure.
