Member of Engineering (Multimodality – Research Lead)

About the role

This position is based in Switzerland and offers the chance to lead multimodal research for next‑generation AI systems. You will shape a new research area, defining how advanced models understand and interact with visual information while collaborating with a highly skilled research team.

Key responsibilities

• Own the multimodality research roadmap and drive adoption across AI models.
• Design, implement, and scale large‑scale experiments from hypothesis to analysis.
• Build initial image‑input capabilities for advanced coding and agentic systems.
• Transition from adapter‑based approaches to native multimodal architectures.
• Develop custom datasets and evaluation strategies for multimodal software‑engineering tasks.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams on architecture, data, and post‑training evaluation.

Required profile

• Strong machine‑learning expertise with a research‑driven mindset.
• Proven experience building production‑grade vision‑language models.
• Deep understanding of large language model fundamentals, transformers, and distributed training at scale.
• Advanced Python programming skills and ability to deliver end‑to‑end AI systems.
• Self‑starter capable of operating in ambiguous, fast‑paced environments.
