Ophthalmic Compliance Auditor

About the role

VMG Health is seeking an experienced Ophthalmic Compliance Auditor to join its Coding Audit and Compliance team. The role involves auditing, compliance consulting, and education for a wide range of healthcare clients.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct documentation and coding reviews, interpret CMS, AMA, OIG, NCCI and other payer guidance.
• Prepare and present audit reports, executive summaries, and corrective action plans to providers and senior leadership.
• Identify documentation, coding, billing, and risk trends and communicate findings to internal and external stakeholders.
• Deliver education and training sessions for providers and internal team members.
• Assist with project scope definition, timeline management, and budget adherence.

Required profile

• 5‑10 years of hands‑on experience in ophthalmology practice settings or 3+ years in healthcare auditing, documentation review, or compliance.
• Strong knowledge of CPT, HCPCS, ICD‑10 codes and ophthalmology/optometry coding guidelines.
• Excellent written communication skills for audit report writing and executive‑level communications.
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment while meeting productivity and quality standards.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Expertise in CPT, HCPCS, ICD‑10 coding and related CMS guidelines.
