OT Engineer

About the role

Bell Schweiz AG is looking for an OT Engineer for its Operational Technology Engineering Team in Basel. The role manages and develops production systems and contributes actively to the digitalisation of production processes, working closely with the Engineering, IT and Production departments. Applicants must be authorised to work in Switzerland (EU/EFTA) and apply directly; the contract is permanent with full workload and flexitime.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure the reliable operation of OT systems in production, especially SCADA, MES and WMS systems
• Configure, commission and develop automation solutions and provide 3rd-level support for technical faults
• Develop automation concepts and feasibility studies to optimise and digitise production processes
• Integrate new automation systems into the existing landscape and carry out functional and integration tests
• Take responsibility for OT, automation and smart factory projects
• Evaluate hardware, control systems and software and work with Engineering, IT and Production

Required profile

• Basic technical training (e.g. automation technician) with further training at HF/FH level in automation, systems engineering or a related field, plus a strong understanding of IT
• Experience in automation or industrial IT, ideally in food production, logistics, process or industrial automation
• Very good written and spoken German and good written and spoken English
• Independent, structured and solution-oriented approach, willing to collaborate across departments

Required skills

• IT system management, especially Windows environments, servers and networks
• Automation concept development and understanding of system integration and communication
• PLC programming and visualisation (Siemens S7, TIA Portal or WinCC V7/V8) is an advantage
