Part‑Time English Language Teacher

About the role

The United Nations Office at Geneva seeks a part‑time English Language Teacher to deliver English courses to staff as part of its Language Training Programme. The role involves both in‑person and online teaching, curriculum preparation, and student assessment.

Key responsibilities

• Teach general and specialised English courses in person or via online platforms.
• Prepare and update learning materials in line with the LTP curriculum.
• Administer and maintain the CLM Moodle platform, including course setup, monitoring student activity, and uploading content.
• Provide group and individual feedback, advise on language development, and grade assignments, tests and exams according to UN standards.
• Handle administrative duties such as attendance records, grading logs and communication with students.
• Participate in meetings, collaborate with colleagues and contribute to group work sessions.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in language teaching, applied linguistics, education or related field, or a first‑level degree with six years relevant experience.
• Minimum four years of experience teaching English to adult learners in multicultural settings, with at least three years recent experience in curriculum development, language examination design or teacher training.
• Expert level proficiency in English (oral and written) and working knowledge of French; knowledge of other UN languages is an advantage.
