msf · Geneva

New
Senior 94,440 - 111,432 CHF/year 🇬🇧 English

Job description

About the role

The Philanthropy Support Team Coordinator is a newly created role at MSF Switzerland's Philanthropy Unit in Geneva, created in response to growth in investment, income and complexity. As a member of the Philanthropy Management Team, the coordinator steers the contribution of the support functions to long-term income growth through coordination, prioritisation and team management, and provides line management to Writers and Enablers. The role also directly stewards a small portfolio of selected high-value donors.

Key responsibilities

  • Align the priorities of Writers and Enablers with the Unit's strategy and yearly objectives, support prioritisation when demand exceeds capacity, and ensure regular feedback and follow-up on learnings.
  • Support the Unit in using data and business analysis for planning and decision-making, and bring support-function insights into Unit-wide discussions.
  • Manage Writers and Enablers, including recruitment, performance management and development, and resolve competing requests and unclear responsibilities.
  • Manage the support-function expense budget and coordinate annual planning and reviews.
  • Manage a portfolio of high-value donors: tailor engagement and growth strategies, present MSF's case to donors, lead negotiations and multi-year funding discussions, and represent MSF in high-level external engagements.

Required profile

  • Advanced university degree in business administration, international relations, social sciences, public policy, economics or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience leading and developing multidisciplinary teams.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in philanthropy in a large organisation with professional philanthropy support; experience at MSF is a strong advantage.
  • Proven experience managing high-value and complex donor relationships.
  • Excellent written and spoken English; working proficiency in French or German is required.

Required skills

  • Understanding of philanthropy and institutional funding cycles, prospect management and portfolio structuring.
  • Understanding of due diligence frameworks, risk management and compliance requirements in philanthropic partnerships.
  • Familiarity with business analytics tools and performance dashboards.
  • Strong understanding of financial planning, donor-funded project management and reporting standards.
  • Competencies in data protection, performance and results management are an advantage.

What we offer

  • Full-time, open-ended position (40 hours per week) in Geneva, starting ideally in early January 2027.
  • Gross annual salary from CHF 94,440 to CHF 111,432 depending on experience.
  • 25 days of paid vacation plus Swiss public holidays, and a pension plan with 3/4 contributions covered by MSF.
  • Relocation support available for eligible candidates.

Applications are submitted through the MSF recruitment platform with a CV (max 2 pages) and cover letter (max 1 page) in English or French; the deadline is 30 November 2026.
