Plant Engineer (Pharma/Biotech, Basel)

About the role

We are seeking 1‑2 Plant Engineers to join a pharma/biotech project in Basel on a three‑month fixed‑term basis. The role focuses on strengthening the plant engineering team by creating and improving SOPs and technical documentation for utilities and equipment, ensuring the new facility is ready for sustained GMP operations.

Key responsibilities

• Write and refine SOPs for black and clean utilities and small devices such as pumps and utility skids.
• Review and rework existing vendor SOPs, replacing generic documents with site‑specific procedures.
• Align all documentation with project and quality requirements for shop‑floor use.
• Support operational readiness activities after engineering batches, confirming equipment and utilities are ready for routine use.
• Participate in IQ/OQ‑like activities to verify SOPs against actual conditions.
• Identify documentation gaps across the system/device landscape and help prioritize their closure.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience as a Plant, Utilities, or Maintenance Engineer in a GMP‑regulated pharma/biotech environment.
• Proven experience with black and clean utility systems and mechanical/electrical equipment.
• Hands‑on experience bringing new or modified systems into operation.

Required skills

• SOP and technical documentation authoring.
• Understanding of GMP requirements for utilities and equipment.
• Reviewing vendor documentation and adapting it for site use.
• Supporting IQ/OQ or similar commissioning/qualification activities.
