Platform Engineer - Infrastructure Control Plane & Workflow Automation

About the role

Julius Baer is looking for a Platform Engineer in Zurich to design and deliver automation solutions that replace manual processes with automated self-service offerings. The role centres on Kubernetes-native control planes built with Crossplane and on workflow automation, within a DevOps-driven approach that lets product teams provision and manage their own resources.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design, development and implementation of Kubernetes-native control planes using Crossplane, building providers and functions in Golang following the Kubernetes Operator pattern
• Design and extend self-service infrastructure offerings so product teams can provision and manage resources reliably at scale
• Build and maintain workflow automation on the orchestration platform, writing and reviewing business logic in JavaScript and other scripting languages, while adapting to migration toward a new automation tooling stack
• Enable and coach product teams to build their own automations through documentation, workshops and hands-on guidance
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, contribute to technical roadmaps and troubleshoot complex issues across the control plane and automation tooling
• Maintain technical documentation and ensure compliance with industry standards and organisational policies

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of experience developing and operating Kubernetes Operators, ideally with Golang and Crossplane
• Experience building workflow automation tooling, including business logic in JavaScript, Python, PowerShell or similar
• Proven experience delivering technical projects independently and collaborating with technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Experience teaching, coaching or enabling other teams to adopt new tools, even without formal management responsibility
• Fluent English; German is a plus
