Postdoctoral position in assistive robotics: shared autonomy for real-world support

About the role

We are seeking a postdoctoral researcher to lead the technical development of shared‑autonomy methods for assistive mobile manipulation within the SNSF‑funded ERUSARA project. The work will involve designing, integrating, and evaluating a reliable robotic system capable of multi‑week deployments in the homes of people with disabilities.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the technical development and integration of autonomy, interaction, and perception components on a Stretch 4 mobile manipulator.
• Conduct participatory design activities and rigorous laboratory and field evaluations with participants, caregivers, and clinicians.
• Publish scientific results, produce software documentation, and contribute to project reports and demonstrations.

Required profile

• PhD in Robotics, Human‑Robot Interaction, AI, Computer Science, Engineering or a closely related field.
• Strong research background in human‑robot interaction, assistive robotics, shared autonomy or robot learning.
• Hands‑on experience developing and evaluating systems on physical robots.
• Ability to work independently and within an interdisciplinary, international team.
