Postdoctoral Researcher in Geometry

About the role

The AnSur project studies the global geometry of the space of deformations of Anosov representations of hyperbolic groups, with a focus on positive ones and their relation to Geometric Analysis. It uses techniques from geometric PDEs and combinatorics, for example by studying how asymptotic data such as the limit set in a flag manifold interacts with solutions of geometric PDEs such as those of Higgs-bundle origin. The position is based at EPFL in Lausanne.

Key responsibilities

• Work closely with members of the department working in related areas.
• Collaborate with other postdocs and supervise students if needed.
• Contribute to teaching related to the project, especially if interested in an academic career.
• Co-organise seminars, lectures and conferences with the project PI.

Required profile

• Proven scientific excellence in related areas such as surface group representations, geodesic currents or Geometric Analysis.
• A strong publication record.

What we offer

• A stimulating and international working environment.
• Competitive salary and excellent working conditions.
• Opportunities to travel and invite researchers, given the project's international connections.

The contract is fixed for one year initially, renewable up to two years; the project ends in March 2029. Applications are submitted online with a cover letter, a CV with publications, a research statement and three references. The contract starts on 1 January 2027 or 1 September 2027, with deadlines of 30 October 2026 and 31 January 2027 respectively.
