Professor of Beverage Innovation (80–100% FTE)

About the role

The Zurich University of Applied Sciences seeks a Professor of Beverage Innovation to shape the future of sustainable beverage processes. The position involves leading a multidisciplinary research group, teaching bachelor modules, and fostering strong industry collaborations. The appointment starts on 1 April 2027 or by arrangement.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, strategically develop and manage a research group focused on beverage innovation.
• Plan, coordinate and allocate human and financial resources for the group.
• Secure third‑party funding and oversee applied research projects with food‑industry partners.
• Design, coordinate and teach bachelor‑level modules on process and product development for liquid and semi‑solid foods.
• Supervise term papers, bachelor theses and master theses.
• Promote knowledge transfer and maintain professional networks at national and international level.
• Contribute to continuing professional development programmes and the strategic development of the centre.

Required profile

• University degree and PhD in Food Science, Food Technology, Process Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum five years of experience in industrial or industry‑related R&D, preferably in beverage innovation.
• Proven track record of acquiring, managing and delivering applied research projects.
• Experience leading interdisciplinary teams.
• Higher‑education teaching qualification or willingness to obtain one.
• Excellent command of German (teaching is predominantly in German).
• Strong networking skills with academic and industry partners.
• Motivating, transparent communication style and a passion for innovation in teaching.
