Professorship in Translational MR-Methodology

About the role

The University of Bern invites applications for an extraordinary professorship in Translational MR-Methodology. The position is based in the Faculty of Medicine and integrates into the Translational Imaging Center Bern, focusing on advancing magnetic resonance technologies from the laboratory to clinical practice.

Key responsibilities

• Lead research and development in high‑field magnetic resonance imaging and spectroscopy, including 7 Tesla systems.
• Develop and optimise MR sequences for clinical and metabolic imaging applications.
• Secure competitive external funding and manage research projects.
• Foster collaborations with academic partners and industry stakeholders.
• Supervise PhD students and contribute to innovative teaching programmes.

Required profile

• Internationally recognised researcher with a strong publication record in MR methodology.
• PhD or MD‑PhD with proven expertise in high‑field MRI and MR‑sequence development.
• Experience in metabolic imaging or other innovative MR fields is advantageous.
• Successful track record in obtaining external research funding.
• Excellent teamwork skills and willingness to cooperate with clinical disciplines.
