Programme Officer – Fibres, Textiles & Cotton

About the role

The International Trade Centre is seeking a Programme Officer to support its Fibres, Textiles and Cotton (FTC) programme within the Sector and Enterprise Competitiveness Section. The role will contribute to improving the international competitiveness of textile and clothing value chains in developing countries, with a focus on sustainability, women’s empowerment, youth employment and climate resilience.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in managing and implementing FTC project activities across the value chain, from production to post‑production services.
• Provide knowledge transfer and coaching to MSMEs, helping them adopt market‑driven practices and new digital channels.
• Develop tools, methodologies and training materials to analyse market trends and support capacity building.
• Support the institutional ecosystem by facilitating south‑south cooperation and linking stakeholders.
• Contribute to monitoring, reporting and knowledge‑sharing on project outcomes.

Required profile

• Experience in managing development projects related to textiles, fibres, cotton or related light manufacturing sectors.
• Familiarity with MSME support, capacity building and sustainable value‑chain approaches.
• Ability to design and deliver training, coaching and research outputs.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work with diverse partners, including public and private sector actors.
