Project Manager - Banking & Financial Services (PMO)

About the role

Forfirm is recruiting a PMO resource to join a client engagement in the Swiss banking sector. The resource sits inside the client's IT function, working alongside internal teams to strengthen project governance and deliver effectively across a complex, multi-initiative portfolio. The role calls for autonomy from day one and quick integration into a structured banking environment.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and evolve the PM framework, standards and templates used by the client, and ensure consistent project lifecycles from initiation to closure.
• Drive adoption of PM best practices across internal project teams.
• Monitor the project portfolio against scope, schedule, budget, risks and dependencies, and deliver regular, decision-ready reporting to senior management and the Board.
• Manage escalation processes and change control with full traceability.
• Coach internal project managers on planning, resourcing and execution, and run lessons learned sessions.

Required profile

• 5-6 years in PMO, Program Management or Senior PM roles in banking or financial services.
• Direct experience designing and running PM frameworks in regulated banking environments, with familiarity with FINMA requirements and Swiss banking governance.
• Track record on complex portfolios mixing ICT delivery and organisational change; used to hybrid teams of internal staff and external consultants.
• Degree in Economics, Engineering, Computer Science or a related field; PM certification mandatory (PMP, PRINCE2 or equivalent).
• Italian and English mandatory; German and/or French a strong advantage.

Required skills

• PPM and PM tools such as MS Project, Jira, Confluence, ServiceNow PPM or equivalent.
• Solid methodology background across waterfall, agile and hybrid approaches.
• Able to build and present Board-level portfolio reports independently.
