Railway Engineer – ETCS

About the role

agap2 is seeking an experienced ETCS Engineer to join its Swiss team. The role focuses on designing, integrating and validating European Train Control System (ETCS) solutions for railway projects, ensuring safety, reliability and compliance with industry standards.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, integrate and validate ETCS solutions throughout the project lifecycle.
• Support engineering, configuration, testing and commissioning of onboard and trackside ETCS systems.
• Ensure compliance with railway standards, safety regulations and customer requirements.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including signalling, systems, software, validation and project management.
• Participate in system integration, verification, validation and troubleshooting activities.
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation, engineering reports, test specifications and presentations.
• Analyse technical issues, identify risks and implement corrective actions to guarantee successful delivery.
• Provide technical support to customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders during project execution.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, Railway or Computer Engineering or a related discipline.
• Proven experience working with ETCS signalling systems in the railway industry.
• Strong understanding of ETCS architecture, railway signalling principles and system integration.
• Excellent communication skills in German and English.
• Analytical, solution‑oriented approach with strong teamwork abilities.
