Research Associate – In‑vivo Pharmacology (Cardiovascular & Metabolic)

About the role

Roche is seeking a motivated Research Associate to join the Cardiovascular and Metabolic Diseases in‑vivo pharmacology team in Basel. You will design and execute rodent studies to evaluate pharmacodynamics, efficacy and safety of novel therapeutic candidates.

Key responsibilities

• Establish, validate and use disease‑relevant rodent models (e.g., obesity, diabetes) for drug discovery projects.
• Design, conduct and interpret in‑vivo experiments, including pharmacodynamic and efficacy assessments.
• Develop and characterize new in‑vivo models for obesity‑related comorbidities.
• Ensure compliance with animal welfare regulations and the 3Rs principle.
• Improve test systems, data capture, storage and assay automation.

Required profile

• MSc/BSc in Life Sciences or equivalent apprenticeship; no PhD required.
• Minimum 3 years of industry experience with in‑vivo rodent models.
• Proficient in mouse handling, cohort management, injections, behavioral assays, tissue sampling and processing.
• Strong English communication skills and a collaborative team attitude.

Required skills

• Experience with rodent obesity and metabolic models, including glucose and insulin tolerance tests.
• Body composition analysis, whole‑body metabolism (Promethion) and blood pressure measurements.
• LTK1 or equivalent certification.
• Excellent data management and record‑keeping abilities.
