Robotics Software Intern – Behaviors & UI

About the role

Join Hydromea as a Robotics Software Intern and work directly with underwater EXRAY vehicles. You will develop user‑interface components, integrate autonomous behaviours and maintain embedded code while piloting the robots in labs, test missions and field deployments.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and extend the Navia control UI using PyQt5, adding new sensor visualisations and data‑rich dashboards.
• Collaborate with the autonomy team to integrate semi‑ and fully‑autonomous behaviours, handling telemetry and behavior triggers.
• Maintain and improve embedded software on microcontrollers (C) and Raspberry Pi systems (C++/Python), focusing on bug fixing and performance refinements.

Required profile

• Swiss work permit or EU/EFTA/CH citizenship.
• Hands‑on attitude, curiosity and willingness to pilot robots in real missions.

Required skills

• Python scripting and UI development.
• C and C++ for embedded systems.
• Experience with PyQt5 / PyQt Designer / QSS.
• Familiarity with UART, CAN, I2C communication protocols.
• Proficient use of Git (merge requests, rebasing, conflict resolution).
