Scientist, Binding Kinetics

About the role

Adaptyv is building an automated lab that lets AI agents run biology experiments, and is hiring a Scientist, Binding Kinetics in Lausanne (on-site, full time, start ASAP). The lab produces binding data faster than one person can review it: SPR and BLI runs go through a processing pipeline and land in a review queue, and the scientist decides which results are real, which are artifacts, and which samples must be re-run. The second part of the job is talking to customers about their results, explaining what was measured and what to do next.

Key responsibilities

• Review binding data from SPR and BLI runs, judging curves and deciding what gets delivered, flagged or re-run.
• Review other assays such as thermostability, expression, developability and enzyme activity.
• Talk to customers, walk through sensorgrams and explain the results, including when the data does not match expectations.
• Turn review into experimental design: choose re-runs, orientation, regeneration, concentration series, or switching from BLI to SPR.
• Analyze data at batch level with scripts to spot systematic drift or bad references.
• Feed findings back into the pipeline as requirements for the software team.
• Work with production, QC and customer success.

Required profile

• MSc or PhD in biochemistry, biophysics or a related field, plus 3+ years of hands-on binding kinetics work.
• Deep SPR and BLI experience; able to interpret sensorgrams and judge fits (1:1 vs bivalent, mass transport, avidity).
• Strong data analysis skills and serious use of AI tools for analysis scripts and dashboards.
• A self-starter who works independently, a fast learner, and comfortable explaining complex results simply to customers.
• Honest about uncertainty and willing to flag ambiguous results.

Required skills

• SPR and BLI assays (Biacore, Carterra, Octet, Gator)
• Python or R for data analysis
• Plus: familiarity with DSF, HPLC and plate-based activity assays
