Secondary English Teacher – KS4 & KS5

About the role

The school seeks an experienced Secondary English Teacher for Key Stages 4 and 5, with potential for curriculum leadership. The role involves delivering high‑impact English language and literature lessons and supporting student achievement.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging English Language and Literature lessons for KS4 and KS5, including exam preparation and coursework marking.
• Assess student progress, provide timely feedback, and implement interventions to improve outcomes.
• Communicate effectively with parents, pupils, and colleagues about curriculum and pastoral matters.
• Contribute to extra‑curricular activities, university application advice, and departmental initiatives.

Required profile

• Minimum three years teaching English in a UK state, independent, or recognised international school (ECTs not eligible).
• Degree in English, literature, or a related humanities subject.
• Proven record of strong GCSE and A‑Level results.
• Experience teaching across KS3, KS4, and KS5, including EAL and SEND learners.

Required skills

• Knowledge of the English National Curriculum and UK exam boards (AQA, OCR, Pearson Edexcel).
• Ability to use digital and physical resources to enhance learning.
• Experience with drama‑based teaching approaches (asset).
