Section Chief, Institutions & Ecosystems – DECI

About the role

The International Trade Centre (ITC) seeks a dynamic leader to head its Institutions and Ecosystems Section within the Division of Enterprise Competitiveness and Institutions (DECI). Reporting to the Director of DECI and guided by the Deputy Executive Director, the Section Chief will shape the strategic direction of business support organizations (BSOs) across developing and transition economies.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and develop the DECI/IE team to define and enhance the role of BSOs in both public and private sectors.
• Oversee programmatic and administrative functions, including budget preparation, performance monitoring, results‑based budgeting inputs, and staff evaluations.
• Forge and nurture strategic alliances with donors, technical agencies, private foundations, multinationals and NGOs.
• Promote teamwork and cross‑departmental communication to align resources with BSO needs.
• Advocate ITC’s portfolio of BSO‑strengthening services to key stakeholders.
• Represent ITC at inter‑agency meetings, seminars and other relevant fora.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading multidisciplinary teams in an international development context.
• Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, monitor performance indicators and conduct staff evaluations.
• Strong track record of building strategic partnerships with public, private and donor entities.
• Excellent communication skills for advocacy and representation at high‑level meetings.
