Security Forces & Screening Intern

About the role

The Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights is seeking a motivated intern to support its work on security forces and screening. Based in Geneva, the role will contribute to the Global Operations Division’s efforts to integrate human rights standards into UN security‑related training and policies.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in organizing and delivering training sessions on security forces, including logistical support, background research, preparation of training materials and communication products.
• Maintain and update the training platform, intranet site and participant coordination tools.
• Create and curate a library of videos and photographs illustrating law‑enforcement practices for use in exercises and trainings.
• Support the automation of screening processes and related documentation.
• Produce knowledge‑sharing materials, briefings and internal guidance, and help keep intranet or knowledge‑management platforms current.
• Digitise, organise and manage documents and datasets, and aid in outreach or learning activities.
• Perform additional tasks such as document processing, data management and event organisation as required.

Required profile

• Enrolled in a graduate programme (Master’s or higher) or in the final year of a Bachelor’s programme.
• Studies in information/knowledge management, digital studies, human rights, international law, international relations, political science, public policy, governance or security‑sector related fields.
• Relevant academic or research experience is an asset.

Required skills
