Senior Android Developer – Drone Navigation & Control

About the role

Join Sulzer Schmid’s Software Development team in Oetwil am See to lead the creation of Android applications that power drone navigation and control for industrial blade inspections. You will work closely with internal stakeholders to deliver high‑quality, production‑ready software that supports field operations.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain Android applications for drone navigation and control.
• Integrate the DJI Mobile SDK (or comparable SDKs) to enable reliable flight and mission management.
• Collaborate with software and operations teams throughout the product lifecycle.
• Provide technical support to drone pilots during field missions.
• Drive the product from concept through planning, design, testing and customer release.

Required profile

• 5+ years of professional Android development experience.
• University degree in Engineering or a related field.
• Hands‑on experience with the DJI Mobile SDK or similar drone control SDKs.
• Proven ability to deliver production‑ready software and bring a product to market.
• Strong understanding of geospatial reasoning and spatial data.
• Willingness to support drone pilots on site.
• Fluent English; German language skills are a plus.

Required skills

• Android development (Java/Kotlin).
• DJI Mobile SDK (or comparable drone SDK).
• Geospatial data handling and spatial reasoning.
• C#/.NET programming (optional but advantageous).
• Navigation and control of UAVs.
