Senior Backend Engineer, AI Orchestration

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to design and build the core execution engine that powers AI‑driven workflow orchestration. The role focuses on creating reliable, observable, and high‑performance backend services that enable large language model (LLM) agents and AI workflows to run at scale.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement core execution primitives for AI workflow orchestration.
• Integrate and maintain connections with LLM providers and AI agent frameworks.
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to translate real‑world AI use cases into reusable platform patterns.
• Ensure full observability, traceability, and debuggability of AI workflow executions.
• Improve reliability, scalability, and fault tolerance through retry strategies, state management, branching logic, and failure recovery.
• Contribute to backend architecture decisions and continuously optimise performance and maintainability.
• Stay up‑to‑date with emerging AI orchestration technologies and recommend enhancements.

Required profile

• Strong professional experience building production‑grade backend systems with Java.
• Hands‑on experience with AI agent frameworks such as LangChain4j or comparable technologies.
• Deep understanding of agentic AI concepts including tool calling, workflow state management, retries, and execution lifecycles.
• Proven ability to design reliable, scalable services with a focus on correctness, observability, and resilience.
• Experience deploying and supporting AI‑powered systems in production.
• Comfortable working in a collaborative, remote‑first environment.
