Senior C++ Software Engineer - Embedded Vision & Traffic Systems

About the role

A partner company, acting on behalf of the hiring employer, is looking for a Senior C++ Software Engineer based in Switzerland. The project develops advanced embedded vision systems and intelligent traffic management solutions, with a sensor-fusion platform built around a ROS2-based architecture. The engineer works alongside experienced developers, architects and technical stakeholders, with autonomy to drive technical improvements and mentor others.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain core application components in Modern C++ (C++17/20) within an established ROS2-based architecture.
• Integrate multiple sensors, external interfaces and third-party components into an embedded vision and sensor-fusion platform.
• Build component-based applications using pub/sub patterns and message-based communication for reliable data exchange across distributed systems.
• Contribute to software architecture and design, and implement reusable, scalable and maintainable solutions.
• Develop and maintain unit and integration tests, and identify and fix bottlenecks in performance, memory usage, concurrency and resource use.
• Debug and troubleshoot complex issues in Linux environments using debugging, profiling and performance-analysis tools.
• Maintain container images, Docker configurations and build environments, and take part in code reviews.
• Guide less experienced engineers through knowledge sharing and mentoring.

Required profile

• At least 5 years of professional software development experience with strong C++ expertise.
• Practical experience developing robotic applications with ROS2, and hands-on experience integrating sensors, preferably in embedded vision, robotics or sensor-fusion.
• Strong knowledge of software design principles, distributed architectures and component-based design.
• Experience writing unit and integration tests, and strong Linux development skills.
• Ability to take ownership of complex tasks, make technical decisions and communicate clearly in English.
• Nice to have: ROS2 node development with Python, Yocto, Embedded Linux, Kubernetes, Helm, CI/CD (Jenkins or GitLab CI), real-time OS concepts, or experience in traffic management systems.
