Senior Consultant – IT Architecture, Technology Strategy & Transformation

About the role

Deloitte's Technology Strategy & Transformation team in Zurich is looking for an experienced consultant with an engineering or software development background to move beyond hands-on delivery into technology architecture and strategy. The role works with experienced architects and strategy consultants to help C-suite executives of global organisations modernise application landscapes, define target architectures, assess platform choices and shape transformation roadmaps. It is an 80-100% workload position.

Key responsibilities

• Translate business needs into technology solutions with clients and Deloitte teams.
• Apply an engineering perspective to architecture decisions, assessing feasibility and designing realistic solutions.
• Support solution and enterprise architecture work: architecture documentation, application landscape assessments, solution options, target-state designs, integration concepts and implementation roadmaps under the guidance of architects.
• Explain technical concepts, dependencies, trade-offs and risks to business and IT stakeholders.
• Support projects on IT strategy, enterprise architecture, application modernisation, platform strategy, DevOps operating model design and large-scale transformation roadmaps.
• Take part in client workshops, interviews, status meetings, analysis, documentation and presentations.
• Learn architecture methods, frameworks, structured problem solving and stakeholder communication.

Required profile

• Degree in computer science, applied mathematics, engineering, information systems or a comparable STEM field.
• First professional experience of 3-5 years in software development, software engineering, cloud, DevOps, platform engineering or a similar technical delivery role.
• Good understanding of the software development lifecycle and how applications, platforms, data and infrastructure interact.
• Fluent English; German or French fluency is required in addition.
• Analytical, methodical and comfortable in fast-paced settings.

Required skills

• Ability to communicate technical topics clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Advantageous: experience with solution architecture, enterprise architecture, IT transformation, stakeholder management or frameworks such as TOGAF.
