Senior Director, Patient Advocacy & Communications Lead, EMEA

About the role

The Senior Director will lead integrated patient advocacy and communications strategies across EMEA, focusing on spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) and future rare neuromuscular diseases. This role serves as the primary regional advocate and communications lead, partnering with internal functions and external stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute a comprehensive EMEA patient advocacy strategy, ensuring patient and caregiver perspectives are integrated throughout product lifecycles.
• Build and maintain authentic relationships with patient organizations, advocacy leaders, and community stakeholders across multiple European countries.
• Lead corporate and product communications, media relations, executive visibility, and digital communications to enhance the company’s reputation.
• Collaborate cross‑functionally with Medical Affairs, Market Access, Clinical Development, Regulatory, and Commercial teams to align advocacy and communications initiatives with business goals.

Required profile

• 8‑12+ years of experience in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, or rare diseases, with a strong background in patient advocacy and corporate communications.
• Demonstrated success working with patient organizations and influencing stakeholder groups across Europe.
• Advanced degree in Life Sciences, Communications, Public Affairs, Public Health, Healthcare Management or related field preferred.
