Senior Electronic Engineer – Robotic Payload

About the role

A client based in Zurich is looking for an experienced Senior Electronics Engineer to support the development and integration of a new payload for an advanced robotic platform. The engineer designs, develops, tests and integrates electronic hardware components within a multidisciplinary engineering team. The project runs from now until 30 April 2027, on a full-time basis, and is remote.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop electronic hardware for a robotic payload system
• Create schematics and multi-layer PCB layouts using KiCad
• Design and optimise power supply architectures, including DC/DC converters and isolated power stages
• Develop LED driver circuits and implement dimming and control strategies
• Integrate Ethernet and Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) functionality
• Design cable assemblies, harnesses and connectors for dynamic and moving applications
• Apply EMC-conscious design practices throughout the hardware development lifecycle
• Support hardware bring-up, testing, troubleshooting and validation
• Collaborate with mechanical, firmware and systems engineering teams
• Contribute to prototype development and transition into manufacturing

Required profile

• Several years of experience in electronic hardware development
• Proven expertise in power electronics, including DC/DC converter design
• Solid knowledge of Ethernet and PoE technologies
• Experience with cable, connector and harness design for dynamic applications
• Strong understanding of EMC/EMI-aware hardware design
• Ability to work independently in an international environment and professional English

Required skills

• Hands-on KiCad for schematic capture and multi-layer PCB design
• LED driver circuit design
• Production documentation: Gerbers, BOMs and pick-and-place files
• Nice to have: DfM/DfT, simulation tools such as SPICE, multi-board systems and board-to-board interfaces, and exposure to robotics, mechatronics or motion systems
