Senior Embedded Systems Engineer

About the role

Hyperscale Power is seeking a Senior Embedded Systems Engineer to lead the development of core control firmware for its solid‑state transformers. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team of power electronics and control experts to deliver high‑performance, safe, and reliable embedded solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimise FPGA‑based digital control systems using VHDL.
• Implement high‑speed control algorithms (PWM, sensing, protection, fault handling) with sub‑microsecond latency.
• Create low‑level peripheral drivers and communication interfaces (SPI, I²C, RS‑232/485, CAN, Ethernet) and advanced timing synchronization modules.
• Perform timing analysis, simulation, synthesis, place‑and‑route, and resource optimisation on Xilinx/AMD, Intel/Altera, or Lattice devices.
• Develop hybrid FPGA + microcontroller/DSP architectures, including custom IP cores and high‑speed data exchange.
• Ensure functional safety and cybersecurity compliance for FPGA‑based systems.
• Collaborate with hardware engineers on PCB‑level FPGA integration, gate driver, and sensor interfacing.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to documentation, IP reuse strategy, and design‑flow improvement.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in embedded firmware development for power‑electronics applications.
• Proven ability to lead complex FPGA projects from concept to production.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and experience handling customer support for deployed firmware.
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills within a high‑performance engineering team.
