Senior Engineer & Scrum Master

About the role

Julius Baer is looking for a person who combines the role of Scrum Master and Senior Engineer. As Scrum Master, you enable self-organising teams to reach their goals by removing impediments and fostering high-performing team dynamics, continuous flow and relentless improvement. As Senior Engineer, you design, develop and test software modules so they function optimally and integrate well within complex systems.

Key responsibilities

• Scrum Master: help agile team members communicate, coordinate and collaborate; support the Product Owner in product and backlog management; organise and run the team's cadence, events and artefacts
• Support the leadership and Agile Coach with OVS ceremonies such as PI Planning and OVS demos
• Remove obstacles, resolve conflicts and coach team members to grow, while promoting an open feedback culture
• Senior Engineer: design, develop and maintain software modules following software engineering best practices
• Work with cross-functional teams on requirements and make sure deliverables match business objectives
• Build robust software from source code, meet performance and security criteria, and take part in code reviews
• Run system integration tests, diagnose faults and contribute to architectural and system design decisions
• Mentor junior engineers and share best practices

Required profile

• Higher education in Computer Science (university, university of applied sciences or equivalent)
• Certification on an agile project framework such as SAFe
• Understanding of the software development lifecycle and a growth-oriented, agile mindset
• Strong written and verbal English

Required skills

• Scrum, Kanban and Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe); tools such as JIRA and Confluence
• Backend and frontend programming in Java and React
• Software architecture, design patterns and best practices
