Senior Legal Counsel

About the role

The Senior Legal Counsel will provide expert legal advice, supervision and execution of banking, finance and commercial matters for a global group. Based in Geneva, the role operates within a hybrid working model and may involve occasional travel.

Key responsibilities

• Negotiate banking facilities and arrangements with financial institutions.
• Act as principal legal adviser on strategic M&A projects, coordinating with external counsel as needed.
• Oversee regional corporate projects, including M&A deals and restructuring exercises.
• Negotiate commercial contracts for corporate procurement and advise stakeholders on legal and business implications.
• Instruct and manage external counsel, including budgeting and project oversight.

Required profile

• Bar admission.
• At least 8 years of experience in multinational law firms or corporate legal departments.
• Fluent in English (spoken and written); additional languages are a plus.
• Demonstrated experience in banking law, M&A and commercial law.
• Proven ability to work in an international environment and handle cross‑cultural, legal complexities.
• Strong analytical judgment and ability to formulate defensible legal positions on novel issues.
• Proactive, results‑driven and comfortable working independently or within a team.
