Senior Manager, Global Media Relations

About the role

Roche is looking for a Senior Manager, Global Media Relations to act as its Media Spokesperson for the Roche Group. Based in Basel, you will join a team that shapes the global narrative of a leading healthcare company, making sure the message is clear, impactful and aligned with corporate values across international markets. You will be the primary voice of Roche, managing high-stakes communications and building relationships with the global press, while supporting senior leadership in their media engagements.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the official media spokesperson for the Roche Group, representing the organisation to external stakeholders.
• Shape the media narrative on key strategic, business and reputational topics in collaboration with global communication teams.
• Coordinate news flow and strategic planning across internal communication departments.
• Manage issues proactively through networking with content owners and media monitoring for early detection and timely response.
• Provide media support, including briefings and media training, for Corporate Executive Committee members and subject matter specialists.
• Cultivate and maintain relationships with key journalists in international, Swiss, financial and business media.
• Install and configure communication strategies according to guidelines and help evolve the digital and social media presence.

Required profile

• University degree in science, economics or PR/communications.
• Minimum of seven years of professional experience in corporate communications or media relations within a multinational setting.
• Proven ability to influence and work effectively with senior management.
• Resilience to work in a high-pressure environment on complex, sensitive topics.

Required skills

• Proficiency in written and spoken German and English.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Additional experience in social media or the healthcare industry is a plus.
