Senior Network & Firewall Engineer (Check Point)

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Network & Firewall Engineer with deep expertise in Check Point technologies to manage, secure, and optimise a complex, business‑critical SaaS network serving multiple financial institutions. You will work closely with infrastructure, cloud and security teams to ensure high availability, performance and compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Administer, configure, maintain and troubleshoot Check Point Next Generation Firewalls (NGFW) and Security Management tools such as SmartConsole.
• Design, optimise and manage NAT, VPN, firewall rules and network segmentation across multi‑tenant customer environments.
• Operate and continuously improve enterprise network infrastructure, handling TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, VLANs, routing and switching.
• Implement high‑availability solutions including Check Point ClusterXL and perform upgrades, migrations, patching and security hardening.
• Participate in incident management, root‑cause analysis and change management processes.

Required profile

• Professional experience in network engineering, security or firewall administration, preferably in banking, fintech or enterprise SaaS.
• Hands‑on expertise with large‑scale, complex network infrastructures and high‑availability production environments.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting and independent problem‑solving abilities.
• Fluent English; German is a plus.

Required skills

• Check Point NGFW, SmartConsole, Security Gateways, ClusterXL, VSX, Multi‑Domain Security Management.
• Network protocols and technologies: TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, VLANs, NAT, IPsec VPN, routing and switching.
• Cloud networking (AWS, Azure) and automation tools such as Python, Ansible, Terraform.
• Check Point certifications (CCSA, CCSE) are advantageous.
