Senior Officer – Volunteering Hub

About the role

The Senior Officer, Volunteering Hub will lead the IFRC Secretariat’s technical assistance to National Societies on volunteering. The role safeguards the Red Cross and Red Crescent principle of voluntary service, expands volunteer numbers—including youth—and enhances the quality and impact of volunteer‑delivered services.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the development, adaptation and dissemination of IFRC global guidance and tools for volunteering programmes.
• Provide technical expertise and quality standards to National Societies to strengthen their volunteer management.
• Identify opportunities to increase the number of volunteers and improve service delivery through volunteer‑run activities.
• Promote self‑reliance of National Societies by supporting regular services delivered by locally mobilised volunteers.
• Collaborate with internal divisions and external partners to ensure a holistic approach to volunteer development.

Required profile

• Proven leadership experience in humanitarian or volunteer‑based programmes.
• Strong understanding of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement principles.
• Ability to work with diverse National Societies and coordinate multi‑stakeholder initiatives.
• Excellent communication and coordination skills.
