Senior Packaging Engineer – Technical Services

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Packaging Engineer to join the Technical Services / Manufacturing Science team of an international life‑sciences company in Basel. The role provides expert packaging knowledge for externally manufactured products, ensuring quality, compliance and robust processes across a global network.

Key responsibilities

• Provide expert knowledge in packaging processes, materials and design.
• Represent Technical Services in cross‑functional and joint process teams.
• Ensure compliance with global standards, regulatory requirements and GMP guidelines.
• Manage change‑control activities and review manufacturing documentation such as SOPs and batch records.
• Prepare technical reports, process performance updates and project status.
• Visit external manufacturing partners to assess capabilities and resolve technical issues.
• Drive continuous‑improvement initiatives based on data analysis.
• Support Annual Product Reviews, regulatory submissions and audits.
• Lead or support product transfers, technical transfers and new product introductions.
• Investigate deviations, complaints and process issues as the primary technical contact.

Required profile

• Advanced degree or equivalent experience in Life Sciences, Pharmacy, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or Packaging Engineering.
• 5–10 years of experience in pharmaceutical, chemical or related manufacturing environments.
• Proven experience in technical services, manufacturing science or packaging technologies.
• Fluency in English; additional European languages are a plus.
