Senior Platform Engineer

About the role

You will drive the technical vision of the infrastructure team, focusing on operating, stabilising and gradually modernising our on‑premises platforms while collaborating closely with software engineering to improve reliability, security and developer experience.

Key responsibilities

• Introduce and operate Kubernetes workloads alongside existing VM‑based services.
• Incrementally migrate services to containerised and declarative approaches without disrupting production.
• Maintain on‑prem Linux infrastructure, Tomcat/Apache applications, PostgreSQL databases and Ceph storage.
• Manage configuration with Puppet and Ansible, and automate tasks primarily in Python.
• Design, build and run internal platforms and shared services for deployment and runtime operations.
• Implement monitoring, alerting and incident response using Zabbix (and Grafana/Elastic Stack where applicable).
• Participate in on‑call rotation, perform root‑cause analysis and drive corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with ISO 27001, SOC 2, GDPR and other security requirements.

Required profile

• Fluent English; German a plus.
• Hands‑on experience with on‑prem Kubernetes, Terraform, Puppet, Ansible and Linux production environments.
• Strong operational background with Apache/Tomcat, PostgreSQL and Ceph storage.
• Experience supporting CI/CD pipelines (GitLab) and artifact repositories (Artifactory).
• Proven ability to work on‑call, handle incidents and improve processes.
