Senior Project Manager – Science, Industry & Technology (SIT)

About the role

Arup is expanding its presence in Zurich and is looking for a senior project manager to lead the growth of its Science, Industry & Technology (SIT) business in Switzerland. You will take ownership of large, complex building projects, starting with a client‑focused data‑centre assignment, and help shape the new Swiss office while delivering high‑value projects with international reach.

Key responsibilities

• Lead delivery of large SIT building projects (CHF 10–15 m+), overseeing the full lifecycle from design and procurement to construction, hand‑over and close‑out.
• Establish and monitor project programmes, managing cost control, change management and procurement activities in collaboration with specialist teams.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary design teams, external contractors and specialist consultants to meet client brief, schedule and budget.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as the primary point of contact within complex stakeholder environments.
• Administer construction contracts, oversee contractor performance and lead project close‑out and lessons‑learned processes.
• Contribute to business development, advisory services and due‑diligence to expand Arup’s footprint in the Swiss market.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience delivering medium to large‑scale building projects (typically >CHF 10‑15 m).
• Professional qualification in a construction‑related discipline.
• Deep knowledge of the Swiss construction market, local regulations, procurement phases and industry standards.
• Fluency in English and advanced proficiency in German (minimum B2).
• Specific project experience within the Science, Industry & Technology sector, particularly data‑centre projects.
