Senior R&D Project Manager - Medical Devices

About the role

Medela is strengthening its Research & Development organization and is looking for an experienced Senior R&D Project Manager to lead complex medical device development projects from concept to market. Working in a matrix organization, the role brings together experts from R&D, Quality, Regulatory Affairs, Clinical, Operations and Commercial functions to deliver solutions that create value for patients, customers and Medela.

Key responsibilities

• Lead complex cross-functional medical device development projects from initiation through commercialization.
• Translate business, customer and user needs into clear project objectives, deliverables and execution plans.
• Develop and maintain integrated project plans covering scope, timelines, resources, dependencies, risks and key milestones.
• Create alignment and shared accountability across multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
• Drive execution by addressing obstacles, managing risks and facilitating timely decisions.
• Lead project governance, reviews and communication with senior leadership, keeping progress, risks, opportunities and resource needs transparent.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of project management, ways of working and innovation processes in R&D.

Required profile

• University degree in Engineering, Life Sciences, Business or a related field.
• Significant experience leading complex cross-functional projects in a product development environment.
• Experience in medical technology, healthcare or regulated product development is required.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and influence stakeholders in a matrix organization.
• Excellent communication, facilitation and organizational skills, with a balanced mix of strategic thinking and pragmatic execution.
• Driven, proactive and solution-oriented, taking initiative and inspiring others.
