Senior Rust Engineer for Drive Platform

About the role

As a Senior Rust Engineer you will design, implement and maintain core components that power Proton Drive. You will collaborate with backend, frontend, and mobile teams to ensure seamless integration across web and native clients.

Key responsibilities

• Architect and develop core Rust libraries that serve as the backbone for Proton’s web and mobile applications.
• Ensure cross‑platform compatibility and optimal performance on browsers, Windows, macOS, iOS and Android.
• Conduct code reviews, optimise performance and enforce secure coding practices.
• Collaborate with frontend, mobile and backend developers to integrate SDKs.
• Design and implement comprehensive unit and integration testing strategies.
• Maintain thorough documentation for libraries and SDKs.

Required profile

• 5+ years of professional software development experience with a focus on Rust.
• Strong knowledge of Rust’s ownership model, concurrency and ecosystem.
• Experience building libraries for web and/or mobile platforms.
• Proven ability to work collaboratively in cross‑functional teams.
• Understanding of secure coding practices and commitment to privacy.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
