Senior Software Engineer, XR World Context

About the role

Google’s XR team is building the next generation of lightweight XR devices that combine AI with immersive experiences. As a Senior Software Engineer you will shape world‑facing context signals for smart glasses and headsets, enabling contextual triggers and AI‑driven interactions.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement, and deploy lightweight scene representations for XR glasses to capture world‑facing context signals.
• Create and curate ego‑centric datasets and fuse multiple foundation models to build robust object‑ and scene‑centric representations in real‑time.
• Interface these representations with Gemini/Gemma variants to enable context‑aware AI capabilities such as voice‑based spatial placement and on‑device scene understanding.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Vision, Robotics, 3D sensing or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 5 years of experience in Computer Vision, Robotics, or related areas with research contributions in 3D surface reconstruction and semantic scene understanding.
• Preferred experience with AR/VR/XR development and mobile DSPs for ML acceleration.
