Senior Solution Architect - Reinsurance

About the role

Synpulse, a global management and technology consultancy with Swiss roots serving banks and insurers, is looking for a Senior Solution Architect for its Synpulse8 team. You will design and deliver technology solutions for clients in banking and insurance, with a focus on reinsurance and the Reinsurance Workbench, acting as a trusted advisor who translates business needs into scalable, secure architectures.

Key responsibilities

• Work with clients to understand their goals, identify technology opportunities and define digital transformation strategies.
• Design scalable, secure architectures for cloud, web, mobile and backend systems, including modern data platforms and pipelines.
• Embed AI/ML and GenAI capabilities into end-to-end solutions.
• Use cloud-native and cloud-agnostic principles to build flexible, portable architectures across multi-cloud environments.
• Document architecture with tools such as C4, ArchiMate or equivalent, and lead architecture reviews, discovery sessions and proof-of-concepts.
• Act as a hands-on advisor throughout the software development lifecycle and work in agile, multidisciplinary teams.
• Mentor engineers and stay aware of emerging technologies in financial services and fintech.

Required profile

• At least 8 years in software engineering or solution architecture, including 3 years in a lead or senior architect role.
• Proven experience delivering enterprise systems in financial services, banking, wealth management or insurance.
• Fluent English; German is an advantage.
• Ability to balance scope, quality and timelines on fixed-price or outcome-based projects, with strong communication and mentoring skills.

Required skills

• Cloud-native architectures: containerisation, Kubernetes, service mesh, serverless, and multi-cloud/hybrid approaches.
• Event-driven architectures, microservices, APIs and DevSecOps.
• Data engineering: pipelines, data lakes, data warehouses, streaming, and integration of AI/ML into production.
• Architectural modelling tools such as C4, PlantUML, Structurizr or ArchiMate.
• Hands-on experience with on-premises and hybrid infrastructure in regulated environments.
• Advantageous: reinsurance experience, DDD, Spark, Kafka, MLOps, AWS/Azure/GCP certifications.
