Senior System Architect ML & AI

About the role

Julius Baer is hiring a Senior System Architect for its ML & AI ART within the global IT Architecture team. The architect defines and aligns the end-to-end system architecture for enterprise AI and ML solutions, ensuring scalable, secure and reusable AI capabilities that fit enterprise architecture principles, target architectures and business priorities.

Key responsibilities

• Design and own the solution architecture of applications and AI platform components in delivery
• Ensure architectures follow standards and align with domain target architectures
• Initiate architecture decisions, document them as Architecture Decision Records (ADR) and get them approved by architecture boards
• Advise and coach software engineers on implementing architectures and their technical feasibility
• With the Lead Architect, refine the ART-level target architecture, drive hands-on architectural design for AI and ML solutions and support key ART initiatives such as the AI automation orchestration layer
• Align with enterprise platforms, data capabilities, security standards and MLOps services
• Identify architectural risks, dependencies and technical debt and escalate them proactively
• Contribute to PI Planning, backlog refinement and roadmap discussions, and act as the primary architectural contact for assigned teams

Required profile

• At least 3 years as a Senior Architect in complex IT environments
• At least 5 years as a Lead or Senior Software Engineer with hands-on responsibility, including practical experience with AI/ML solutions and platforms
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a comparable field
• Business-fluent English
• Additional certifications (SAFe, cloud, architecture or AI/ML) are an advantage
