Smart Automation Expert

About the role

The Smart Automation Expert is the senior subject-matter expert for smart automation within SSC Switzerland. The role owns the automation strategy, roadmap, governance and portfolio, leads complex business-critical transformation initiatives and advises stakeholders across functions and countries. Success is measured by improvements in efficiency, accuracy, risk reduction, service quality and customer experience.

Key responsibilities

• Own and evolve the automation strategy, roadmap and portfolio, prioritising by business value, customer impact, complexity, risk and scalability.
• Lead automation and process transformation initiatives from concept to implementation, including requirements, architecture, testing, deployment and benefits realisation.
• Redesign end-to-end payroll, reporting and implementation processes to strengthen controls and improve the customer and employee experience.
• Provide technical leadership for automation solutions, including VBA and Excel-based tools, and recommend scalable technologies such as Power Automate, RPA, APIs and AI-enabled automation.
• Set and maintain automation governance, architecture principles, development standards and quality controls covering documentation, testing, security, data protection, change management and maintenance.
• Partner with payroll specialists and implementation teams on customer implementation approaches, including data migration, custom reporting and process controls.
• Coach automation specialists, payroll experts and business users, and represent the function in cross-functional automation forums.
• Define performance indicators and report the business impact of automation initiatives.

Required profile

• Degree or equivalent professional qualification in information technology, computer science, engineering, business process management, payroll, finance or a related discipline.
• Substantial experience in automation, digital transformation, process improvement or solution consulting, including complex, business-critical initiatives in an international or multi-stakeholder environment.
• Proven ability to shape automation strategy and portfolio priorities, and to establish governance, standards and quality controls.
• Strong stakeholder management, consulting and influencing skills, and the ability to work autonomously with sound professional judgement.

Required skills

• Advanced expertise in automation design and delivery, with strong knowledge of Excel and VBA.
• Practical understanding of Power Automate, RPA, APIs and AI-enabled automation.
• End-to-end process analysis and redesign, and ability to define performance indicators.
