Software Engineer III, Backend – Account Experience

About the role

We are seeking a Software Engineer III to join a high‑calibre backend team that powers the merchant experience on a global payments platform. You will design, build, and maintain core services that support merchant onboarding and daily operational workflows, ensuring reliability and performance at scale.

Key responsibilities

• Own backend features from design through deployment and production monitoring.
• Design and implement scalable, fault‑tolerant services for merchant account experiences.
• Participate in architecture discussions and propose system improvements.
• Monitor production systems, proactively identify issues, and support incident resolution.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional engineering, product, and platform teams on scoping, code reviews, and technical decisions.
• Maintain high engineering standards by delivering clean, testable, production‑ready code.

Required profile

• Strong backend engineering experience with the ability to deliver production‑ready software from ambiguous requirements.
• Solid understanding of distributed systems principles, including scalability and reliability.
• Hands‑on experience designing and working with RESTful APIs and backend services in modern cloud environments.
• Proven ability to own features end‑to‑end, including monitoring, deployment, and post‑release support.
• Confidence in architecture discussions and contributing to technical direction.
• Experience in fintech or payments is a plus, but not required.
• Comfortable working in a remote‑first environment.
