Software Engineer III, Merchant Shopping, Intelligence and Agents

About the role

Google is looking for a Software Engineer III to build next‑generation Large Language Model (LLM) agents that act as virtual business analysts for millions of merchants on Google Shopping. You will design and implement conversational agents, backend tools and evaluation pipelines that deliver actionable insights to merchants.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and deploy features for flagship conversational agents (e.g., BAA and BHAA) using Gemini models and Google’s Agent Development Kit (ADK).
• Implement robust backend services and RPC integrations (e.g., Spanner, F1) to retrieve, aggregate, and reason over merchant performance data.
• Develop automated evaluation, guardrails, and prompt‑engineering strategies to reduce hallucinations and ensure factual accuracy.
• Integrate conversational intelligence with reporting frameworks to provide seamless interactions across Merchant Center and Business Home.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 2+ years of software development experience (or 1 year with an advanced degree).
• 1+ year of experience with Machine Learning infrastructure (model deployment, evaluation, optimization).
• Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and accessible technology development.
