Software Engineer in Test – Contract (Zurich)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Software Engineer in Test to join our client’s team in Zurich on a contract/freelance basis. The role focuses on designing, implementing and maintaining automated test solutions for web and API applications.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Selenium‑based automation frameworks using Java.
• Design BDD test scenarios with Cucumber and implement them with JUnit/TestNG.
• Create and execute functional, regression and API tests (Rest Assured).
• Integrate automated tests into GitLab CI/CD pipelines and support build tools such as Maven and Gradle.
• Perform database validation using SQL and Oracle queries.
• Analyse defects, investigate logs and provide clear defect reports.
• Collaborate with development and QA teams in an Agile/Scrum environment.

Required profile

• Minimum 7 years of hands‑on test automation experience.
• Strong proficiency in Java and Selenium WebDriver.
• Proven experience with BDD frameworks (Cucumber) and test runners (JUnit/TestNG).
• Solid understanding of CI/CD concepts and GitLab pipelines.
• Experience with API testing tools such as Rest Assured.
• Good knowledge of SQL/Oracle for database testing.
