About the role
Google is looking for a Software Engineering Manager to lead teams building security and privacy solutions across its flagship products. The role combines technical leadership with people management, guiding multiple engineers and influencing product strategy.
Key responsibilities
- Set and communicate team priorities that align with broader organizational goals.
- Develop mid‑term technical goals, roadmaps, and design reviews for large‑scale systems.
- Mentor engineers, conduct performance discussions, and provide regular feedback.
- Oversee code quality, ensuring best practices, testability, and efficiency.
- Manage a sizable product budget and coordinate deployments across international sites.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 8+ years of software development experience in C++, Java or Go.
- 3+ years building software for data privacy or security (e.g., identity and access management).
- 3+ years in a technical leadership role and 2+ years managing people.
- Experience working in a complex, matrixed organization is a plus.
