Solution Architect, Capital Markets and Exchanges, Google Cloud

About the role

This role sits in the Innovation team and works with clients to turn initial concepts into reality. The Solution Architect designs and architects solutions across clearing, issuance, settlement, custody and post-trade processing, acting as a trusted advisor on cloud technologies, tokenization platforms and scalable cloud infrastructure for latency-sensitive trading. Candidates must choose a preferred working location among Frankfurt, Zurich, Munich or London.

Key responsibilities

• Design and architect scalable position-keeping services, hybrid financial instruments handling and low-latency stream solutions for trading exchanges.
• Evaluate and integrate solutions with modern data foundations such as relational databases, data lakehouses and real-time streaming architectures, optimised for AI retrieval and real-time financial insights.
• Partner with client leads to create Product Requirement Documents (PRDs) with critical user journeys and success metrics.
• Create technical guides for a smooth hand-off to engineering teams.
• Build reusable proof-of-concept and MVP code, documentation and presentations showing solutions built on Google Cloud Platform.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 7 years of experience designing and architecting solutions for issuance, clearing, trading, settlement, custody, reference and market data in capital markets and exchanges.
• 4 years of software or data engineering experience with one or more programming languages (e.g. Python, Go, Java), including design patterns, testing frameworks and API contract design.
• Experience in financial services, including the regulatory and operational rigours of clearing, settlement or custody.
• Preferred: experience with smart contracts and tokenized assets in regulated FMIs, a high-maturity DevOps culture, and the ability to lead the discovery phase from a vague problem to a PRD and working demo.

Required skills

• Programming languages such as Python, Go or Java.
• Preferred: BigQuery, Vertex AI, Dataflow and Pub/Sub.
• Preferred: data residency, encryption at rest/transit (CMEK) and explainable AI requirements in banking.
• Preferred: relational, NoSQL and analytical data modelling (Star Schema, Data Vault).

What we offer

• Germany: EUR 148,000 - 151,000 plus a 20% bonus target, equity and benefits.
• In-person interviews are required; candidates select their preferred location (Frankfurt, Zurich, Munich or London).
